Sacred Cedar Cob Bench Building Workshop

Location:Duncan BC - Xe”Xe Xpay Lelum

August 11th-15th

Come join us the the construction of a large sculptural bench being built in a beautiful community garden at The Sacred Cedar Center just outside of Duncan BC. We will gather for five days on the land of the Quw’utsun people to mix and build with clay, sand, straw and water to construct o large bench which will be used for teaching about and singing to the plants, to share stories and rest.

Participants will have the chance build with local and reclaimed materials, learn sustainable design principles, and innovative techniques that combine artistry with ecological responsibility. All while being part of a land reclamation project for the original people of this land.

come get muddy, learn, share, and have fun.

Cost is $500 for this 5 day workshop.

This includes 3 meals per day, childcare, and camping on site.

All genders welcome.

Chip Slip, Earthen Plaster and Cob Floor Workshop with Greenhaven Farm

Location: Greenhaven farm in Comox Valley, BC

AUGUST 18-22

Join the Mudgirls in Collaboration with Greenhaven Farm for a five day hands on natural building workshop. Together we will work towards completing a chip slip bath house nestled in the woods of the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. 

You will have the opportunity to make and install chip slip infill, a cob floor and plaster all made from local clay dug up on the property. We will delve into various topics including alternative building materials, sustainable design principles, creating art with mud, and off grid “lifestyle”

Cost is $500 for this 5 day workshop.

This includes 3 meals per day, childcare, and camping on site. 

Daily instructional will cover a range of natural building related subjects based on participants interests. 

All genders welcome

Earthen and Clay-Lime Plastering Workshop

Location: Denman Island, also known as Inner Island (Taystay'ich), BC

Workshop: May 19-23, 2025

Join us in finishing and re-finishing a cob home perched on Denman Island ocean view ridge. This workshop hands-on portion is entirely focused on processing local clay, sand and fibre into earthen plaster and hybrid clay-lime, and applying it on cob walls and lathing.

Participants will have the chance to delve into various topics, including eco-friendly materials, sustainable design principles, and innovative techniques that combine artistry with ecological responsibility.

Cost is $500 for this 5 day workshop

This includes 3 meals per day, childcare, and camping on site.

Daily instructionals will cover a range of natural building-related subjects based on participants interests, and we offer optional tours of other natural and alternative builds during evenings.

All genders welcome.

Earthen Floor and Plastering Workshop

Location: Hat Creek, secwepemc BC

Workshop: June 9-13, 2025

Join us on the Morgan family land in this continuation of Land Back action. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals while engaging in hands-on activities that promote community.

We will be continuing the construction of a small cob house that began over 15 years ago! Join the Mudgirls and the local community, to bring this house much closer to completion. Participants will have the chance build with local and reclaimed materials, sustainable design principles, and innovative techniques that combine artistry with ecological responsibility. We will be finishing the base coat plaster, applying the finish coat and laying an earthen floor.

Cost is $400 for this 5 day workshop.

This includes 3 meals per day, childcare, and camping on site.

All genders welcome.
